Yorkshire in Yellow
Forçats du Cliché t-shirt
In 2014 the Grand Départ of the Tour de France came to Yorkshire. Celebrating this event designers were invited to make their own tribute to the famous ‘Maillot Jaune’ yellow jersey, for a show curated by Made North.

'Forçats du Cliché' plays on French journalist Albert Londres' 1924 headline 'Forçats de la Route' ('Convicts of the road') referring to the conditions cyclists were forced to race under. My own interpretation refers to a tendency for regionally focused design to repeat clichés, such as Yorkshire and the whippet.

Other designers included Wim Crouwel, Margaret Calvert, Alan Kitching, Daniel Eatock, Hey Studio, M/M Paris and NB Studio.
